Good morning friends! I don’t know how hard it is for you all, but I know for me it is very hard for me to live my faith on a daily basis. I partially blame my Catholic upbringing. WHAT? That’s right, and I’ll explain it to you now:

**This is my personal experience with my faith. I respect and understand all journeys are individual. This is not speaking for every Catholic out there, please keep this in mind.**

My mom and step-dad did not foster a sense of faith, spirituality, or religion in my brothers, step sisters and I. We were those “Chreaster Catholics”. (We maybe made it to Mass on Christmas and Easter, and not a day in between.) My grandmother was very much a huge part of my faith development. During summer vacations and after gaining custody of me, I went to church with her every Sunday. I was 14 when she gained custody of me. I began building my faith, but she was old school (pre-Vatican II) Catholic and we prayed, and went to Mass, but not much else. My experience in the Catholic church was not one of sharing my faith with others.

This morning I came across an amazing little site called “GIVElove365” and have never been more excited for a movement (other than my TOMS). It is based on Matthew, chapter 7, verse 12:

“Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law and the prophets.” [from]

I love how it is worded on the GIVElove website:

Ask yourself what you would want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them, for this is the Law…
Matthew 7:12 (MSG)

In my life I try to do unto others as I would like to have them do for me. I am mostly passive in this though, and do things because it seems like the right thing to do. I am excited for this website to help take a more active role in spreading my faith, my love… my blessings!

It would be some really great awesome sauce if you headed on over and checked it out. Connect with people! Help those in need! Be inspired to inspire others.

Be on the lookout here for some ways to GIVElove as well friends!

Faith Filled Fridays | Little Things

Everyday is an opportunity to be thankful for something in our lives. Lindsay over at From The Aisle To Aloha is filling our Friday with thousands of little things through a new link-up (starting next Friday)! I am not only excited to share the things this coming week that I am blessed to have in my life and thankful for, but I’m excited to broaden my horizons and see what everyone else is thankful for also! Are there things I am missing – perhaps I’ll see something I never thought to be thankful for!

For me, far too often I find myself not paying attention to the little things in my days that I am blessed to have. The things that make my life sweeter. The things that make the days nicer. The things that make me smile.

Lindsay is an awesome photographer and I am going to use this not only as an opportunity to “stop and smell the roses,” but also as an opportunity to better my photography skills- we’ll see how that goes!

Since she is going to start next week, I will begin stopping to think about the amazing things in my life that God has blessed me with this week! What are some things God has blessed you with this week? I ask you to join in this challenge and pause this week to think of some of the little things to rejoice in and be thankful for! It surely will brighten our outlooks as well!

What a great weekend to start off with too! A time of fellowship, friendship, and family!

“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Starting The Journey

Posted on

Hello and welcome, friends! On Monday 05 September 2011 I will be starting the journey of reading through the Bible following the Bible in 90 Days format (even though I will only be using weekdays!) and will do my daily reflecting here! Thanks for popping in over here to see the journey I will be taking not only through the Bible right now, but after Mass on Sundays and Bible Studies in the future!

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:33

I am ready to Seek Him now, and forever!
