Impromptu Date Night | Al Fresco

About a month of so back we discovered a cute little shopping center just down the road in Bonsall. We aren’t even sure if people live in Bonsall since we mostly drive through on our way to Oceanside, but we’re sure people do! We have passed this shopping center on several occasions and it just kind of looked unimpressive. Even after going through it we aren’t entirely sold. There is a pizza place where we get the most delicious pizza in town from and an over-priced Chinese restaurant with awful service. There is a mini movie theater and a Jack in the Box. There’s a tiny little grocery store.

Then there is an amazing little Italian restaurant: Al Fresco! We went a few weeks ago to their Sunday champagne lunch buffet. We figured it was the perfect way to sample their menu, and we fell in love! So last night we had an impromptu date night where we got dressed fancy and we headed out.

I love my husband in his purple shirt!

It was such a nice date night! We were able to sit and enjoy each other talking about our days and just laugh with each other! We needed a good date night like that!

When you first arrive they bring out bread sticks and a saucer with sauce in it. The brought us three bread sticks and Hubs ripped the third one in half, place half on my bread plate and said “Now that’s love!”

And you know what… it is! Sharing food with each other, making sacrifices for each other. Huge ideas in marriage exemplified over something as small as a bread stick. We get it right sometimes! We also got it right with dessert::

The most delicious Canolli I've ever had!

I hope you all are having an amazing Friday and enjoy the weekend. Even if you can’t afford to go on a fancy date night: get dressed up, sit at your coffee table, and share bread sticks! Create memories with your loved ones. Do something a little different from your normal routine! Enjoy the little things!

Blinded By The Light

Happy Saturday, friends! Hubs and I are having a pretty lazy day out West- keeping an eye on my Wavy 10 updates via my facebook feed and keeping in touch with Nan. All is going well right now with my family, however I do have a prayer request for you: I went to school with twins and their mom has lost the roof on her house! This before Irene even nears the Norfolk, VA area. Please keep her in your prayers as Irene moves closer and during her rebuilding phase.

Other than this, we are getting ready for a BLIND DATE! Yep! We are meeting Lindsey, from A Freckled Life this afternoon and joining her and her husband for what looks like a delicious dinner. We all know the train wreck that came from my last meet up with a blogger, so I’m a bit nervous!

You never really know someone until you meet them. I know I may come across as a quiet, shy, reserved lady on here (hehe) but I’m loud, obnoxious, and a blogger (which means there is no you to me confidentiality, everything is subject to find its way to the internet). I have a good feeling about dinner though and am so looking forward to it! It has been great meeting more folks and having our social calender fill up! We are going to an Italian place that Hubs and I have never been to. They have chocolate ravioli, and can I just say my mouth is watering waiting for dessert!

The only bummer is I’m on antibiotics! (To which I give a boo and a hiss!) I was so looking forward to enjoying a nuts&berries with dessert- nectar of the Gods my friends! I will definitely let you know just how douchebag Lindsey finds me (which hopefully will be ZERO!), how delicious the chocolate ravioli is, and if I can restrain myself from the fried mozzarella and stick with the house salad instead. For now it’s off to shower land! My nails are a wreck, sorry Linds!

PS: Did I mention I give everyone nicknames while refusing to answer to “Liz” myself? So, Linds, we’ll see you soon 😀

I Love You THIS Much…

That’s the title of one of my “boards” over on pinterest. While recently browsing I saw something too cute that had to be added:

Sometimes hubs and I sit around on the weekends and the infamous exchange takes place:

“What do you want to do today?”

Oh, I don’t know, what do you want to do?”

Wouldn’t it be great to go to a can of pre-thought “free” ideas? There is a list of ideas over on My Creative Stirrings, but I came up with some for us already: We have memberships to a Mission and the zoo! Free date. There is a gorgeous pond up in Temecula we could picnic at. Free!  Head to the beach with a picnic. Free!

Date days and nights don’t have to be expensive, however I saw another idea for a Christmas gift: 12 preplanned, prepaid dates– one for each month! I’m thinking of making it for hubs and I “from Santa”.

What are some things you do for dates?
